In
the late sixties,
early seventies, bands
of many variations
influenced a generation of musicians... |
||
| They came from across the sea, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who; or they came from here, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, to name a few. This period in musical time was experimental. Musicians were not caged to fit in a certain status quo. Songs were written to express one's inner self. It had to do with a song, and a voice to sing that song. The voice could be a sweet choir, banjo or raged rock anthem. The voice expresses the emotion of the soul. Jena writes songs with dynamics and candor, and records them as a 'picture play' in sound. |

Also in 2004, Jena attended a songwriting workshop for adults called Summersongs. Summersongs is a non-profit organization. Jena met and had the pleasure to work with some real professionals, like Kenny Edwards (Stone Poneys with Linda Ronstandt) and Wendy Waldman (producer and songwriter) and a net-work of other talented musicians and songwriters. Kenny Edwards who plays on Jena's CD). |
